This video explores the species of Sarrracenia leucophylla. With Autumn or fall well and truly here the Leucohyplla plants at my nursery are peaking. The plants are literally producing their biggest pitchers of the growing season and this video highlights their beauty at this time of year. This species has to be the prettiest of all the North American pitcher plants. With its white colored pitchers you'd be forgiven to think that the pitchers were flowers. The pitchers are in fact leaves and very effective insect catchers at that. To give you an appreciation of the diversity amongst plants I go over some of the Leucophylla hybrids, cultivars and forms here at my nursery. I discuss care requirements for this plant.
I also go over a common pest that you may find on your plants called scale. In this video I explain how to identify scale and how to remove them. I also explain how you can make full use of scale by learning how to feed your plants with it.
So sit back and enjoy the species Leucophylla in all its full glory.
Happy growing to you all!
