In this video, I team up with Elliot ‪@tsetstransport‬ to explore the new entrance to Mascot Station that opened in December 2023.

This new entrance to Mascot Station is on the west side of Bourke Street and has 4 escalators and 1 lift. It's certainly unique with rugged rock like cladding on the walls, and a couple of pictures of some very old aircraft, one that includes a steam train!

We reveal some changes to the main concourse area that took place to support this new entrance, and then head down to the platforms to discuss the history of Mascot Station and the T8 Airport line in general.

We also talk about Airport Link, who operate this station along with Green Square and the two airport stations. Green Square and Mascot Stations used to have a station access fee, with fares being 80% higher that other local Sydney Trains stations. When these were removed in 2011, patronage more than doubled!

Its then time for a race to see whether its quicker to use the lifts or the escalators. You'll have to watch this video to find out!

Back at street level, we talk about the Mascot Towers apartments that were evacuated in 2019, after cracks were found in the car park, and Elliot found some further cracks too.

We then explore the original entrance, and upper concourse and talk about the More Trains, More Services program that will increase the number of trains serving the Airport Line by 80%

Thanks again to Elliot ‪@tsetstransport‬ for joining me. Do check out his channel for some great behind the scenes content.

Accuracy
I do my best to make the commentary in these videos as accurate as possible by checking facts on the internet and other sources. However, sometimes the information isn't available, so I'll use my railway knowledge and insight to explain something to the best of my ability. If accuracy is important, do check the comments, as other viewers will often pick up on things I've missed or any mistakes made. Also note that for older videos, things may change over time, causing some of the information to become out of date.

Construction Sites, Maintenance Facilities and other Private Property
All footage of construction sites, maintenance facilities and other private property is taken from a public vantage point. The only exception is if it's an open day or I have special permission to access the site. The iPhone's small lens and zoom function makes it easier to film through small gaps in hoardings or fencing, so it may look like I'm on site when I'm not! If you would like to know the exact filming location, then ask me in the comments.
