Based upon Jerry Gray’s famous wartime arrangement for Glenn Miller’s AAF band (and not released commercially by Miller at that time), this new recording of the W.C. Handy classic by the Miller-styled Beneke band was a substantial hit, reaching #5 on Billboard’s best-sellers chart.
