In collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, the SSK Human Rights Forum, and Heart for Korea, Transitional Justice Working Group held its third symposium on transitional justice issues for North Korea entitled “Transitional Justice Measures in Germany and Crimes Against Humanity in North Korea”. This symposium examined how the abuses of the Nazi Gestapo police force and East German Stasi intelligence agency have relevance to the pursuit of justice in North Korea. Key lessons from the German experience include how victims and perpetrators have been identified and what social and institutional reconciliation has been possible.
