On this Day in the Life we feature the South Metro Fire Rescue Explorers.

Through the program, explorers get the opportunity to learn how to use most of the equipment used in fire fighting and learn about the demands of the career. Some of the things they learn include, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), ropes and knots, hose management and water supply, how to safely carry, place, and climb ladders, basic emergency management training and live fire training. Explorers may also ride along with SMFR crews.
