(November 2023) This is a historic "pull the rope" elevator in Milwaukee, WI. I'm not totally sure who installed it, but my guess would be Kieckhefer or Rosenberg. I took this opportunity to explain in more detail how this type of pull the rope elevator works from an operational point of view. This style of control is very simple as you simply pull down (or up) on the rope to make the elevator move in the desired direction. Physical components on the rope and elevator car automatically stop the elevator at the desired floor or at the top/bottom. There is an older style of pull the rope elevator which was designed to not run on electricity at all! Check out my other videos where I explain how pull the rope elevators work:
