Today, I had the immense honor of hoisting the national flag for the first time as the elected MLA of Tawang at the Parade Ground, marking the 78th Independence Day of our great nation. This occasion was not just a celebration of our hard-won freedom, but also a reflection of the spirit, unity, and progress of the people of Tawang. It was a deeply humbling experience to stand before you all, representing the trust and confidence that you have placed in me.

The event was graced by the presence of our esteemed Deputy Commissioner, Kanki Darang, and the revered Padma Shri Lama Thupten Phuntsok, alongside distinguished Army officials, students, NCC cadets, and the wonderful people of Tawang. Their presence added to the solemnity and grandeur of the day, making it a memorable event for everyone in attendance.

The celebration began with a vibrant and inspiring parade, led by the Indian Army band, our dedicated police personnel, young students, NCC members, and Scouts and Guides from various schools. Watching them march with such discipline and enthusiasm was truly heartening. Their participation in this significant event is a powerful reminder of our youth's unwavering commitment to the values of independence, unity, and national progress. It fills me with pride to see how our younger generation is upholding the legacy of our freedom fighters, embodying the ideals of patriotism and service to the nation.

In addition to the parade, various government departments from Tawang took the opportunity to set up exhibition stalls at the event. These stalls highlighted the remarkable achievements and ongoing projects that are contributing to the development of our region. It was particularly gratifying to see the dedication and hard work of our government employees being recognized. I had the privilege of felicitating the employees of the electricity and medical departments, whose outstanding contributions have made a significant impact on our community. Their commitment to public service is truly commendable, and they serve as an inspiration to us all.

The event also provided an opportunity to honor the GBs (Gaon Burahs) of the Tawang Constituency. These community leaders play a crucial role in preserving our traditional governance and supporting the welfare of our people.

Cultural performances by our talented students added a festive and heartfelt touch to the celebrations. These performances, rich in tradition and heritage, showcased the diverse and vibrant culture of Tawang. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by the students were a testament to the enduring spirit of our people.

As I reflect on today's events, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. The 78th Independence Day celebration in Tawang was not just a commemoration of our past struggles, but also a celebration of our present achievements and a commitment to our future progress. It was a true testament to the unity and collective effort of the people of Tawang. Together, we honored our nation's independence and paid tribute to those who have contributed to the progress and development of our region.

As we continue to work towards the betterment of Tawang and our nation, I want to assure you that I am diligently working on my manifesto alongside North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). You will soon see a significant impact from these efforts, as we strive to fulfill our promises and bring about positive change in our region. Let us carry forward the spirit of independence with renewed vigor and dedication. Together, we can achieve even greater heights and ensure that the values of freedom, unity, and progress continue to guide us in all our endeavors.

Jai Hind!
