[Links in description] This Schilke X3 plays wonderfully! Some people think of this as a bright horn, but it just has a lot of spin to the sound. It's easy to get around on this horn even with an all-around mouthpiece like a 3C. It's a large bore (.463) trumpet with a good combination of core and brilliance. I like the amount of resistance this horn has (or doesn't have), it's the right amount for how this horn is meant to be played. It really shines in the upper register with a nice commercial mouthpiece.

What does the X stand for? Great question! In numbering his custom trumpet designs, Schilke used an X to indicate the number 10, so the X3 is just the 13th custom trumpet design from Schilke. It's a pretty popular horn in Schilke's line.
