All the Assamese people irrespective of creed, caste and belief celebrate Bihu, known to be one of the most famous festivals of the Assamese people. Bihu festival is the counterpart of what is called Vaisakhi in Punjab and Vishu in Kerala. It denotes a group of three different festivals of Assam celebrated in accordance to the crop cycle. Bihu festival begins with the Rongali Bihu or the Bohag Bihu is an important festival of Assam. It marks the beginning of an Assamese new year. Achurjya Barpatra is an Indian singer from Assam. He is a multifaceted genius and he almost single handedly popularized modern Assamese Film Songs. He earned supremely good reputation not only in Assam, but also in India.
