Everyone in the building was brought to their feet for a standing ovation following this solo performance by Uzbek master percussionist Abbos Kosimov (   / @abboskosimov  , https://www.instagram.com/abboskosimo...,   / abbos.kosimov  . Abbos’ signature instrument is called the doyra, a frame drum with metal rings suspended from the perimeter of the rear surface. He also plays the qayroqs, the darbuka, the dof, and the riqq. He has recorded with Stevie Wonder. He has performed with Kronos Quartet, and Zakir Hussain’s Masters of Percussion, and the Homayoun Sakhi trio.
