The BDA Heritage team has found a folder in our archives full of old letters and photographs of signs from different countries. We realised this was linked to a book - "Gestuno"

Gestuno was created in to aid communication and discussions at International Deaf events - workshops, sporting conferences, and congresses - where Deaf people from different countries gathered together, uncertain how to connect between different sign languages.

The BDA worked together with the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) to create, produce and publish this book.

To ensure the signs shown were accurate, letters were sent to each WFD member organisations around the world to ask each for their sign of their country.
