In this Video I restored an old wood log marking hammer, made by 'Wilhelm Göhler' in Saxony. It´s written on the first disc 'Wilhelm Göhlers Wittwe, Freiberg i/Sa", which means 'Wilhelm Goehlers Widow, Freiberg in Saxony'.

This Hammer was built to mark wood logs by punching. It has 2 digit discs that have an automatic feed, it works by pressing the handle.

I got this from a friend who is a timber, and he is using this log marking hammer until today. The problem was, that it didnt work properly anymore, so he gave it to me for restoration.

While disassembling i noticed, that there isn't any (fresh) grease in this thing anymore, so it ran dry and didn't work anymore.

I restored every part and made them look fresh again: a lot of cold blueing, sandblasting, nickel plating and wood work, and the most important thing: a lot of new, fresh grease. A lot. After reassembling everything, this beast works pretty well again and is ready for the next years of work!

Thanks you fine people! ♥
