“This is a civilian facility specialising in fixing cars. This facility started three or four years ago and it fixes car. Just that. We came at night and we saw that the facility was struck and they (Israel) said it's a weapons depot and that is not true. Maybe for the enemy, Israel finished the bank of targets and now wants to target civilian facilities.”

STORYLINE:
An Israeli airstrike on a coastal village south of Beirut hit a warehouse destroying a car repair shop and several vehicles, according to Lebanese state media NNA.

No deaths or injuries were reported in the airstrike near the village of Jiyyeh, it said.

Issam Abdallah owns a car repair shop which was destroyed in the strike.

“We came at night and we saw that the facility was struck and they (Israel) said is a weapons depot and that is not true," he said.

An official with a Lebanese group, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media said the strike that occurred after midnight Tuesday was likely carried out by a warplane and not a drone because of the large damage it caused.

The sound of the powerful airstrike was heard in Beirut, about 20 kilometres (12 miles) to the north.

Bassam Oweidat, who lost his car in the strike, came to check on the site.

“I came to get my Range Rover that I brought here to be fixed in this car repair shop," he explained.

"The strike came and the Range Rover is in pieces as you can see. Every piece is in a (different) country,” he added.
