Today’s Kansas City Chiefs News & Rumors from Chat Sports host Harrison Graham:
- Rashee Rice spoke publicly for the first time since he’s offseason incidents took place. Rice says he’s learned from his mistakes and will stay positive. His legal status stemming from the car accident is still ongoing as is any potential suspension from the NFL.
- BJ Thompson medical update: ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Thompson is awake and speaking to doctors. Fowler also said that he could be released from the hospital as early as today or tomorrow. It’s unclear as to when/if Thompson will return to playing football, but this is great Chiefs news.
- Carson Wentz spoke up about being Patrick Mahomes backup QB and said the two already have a great relationship. Wentz admitted that it’s still weird being a backup quarterback in the NFL, but that he’s approaching everyday to be ready for when his number is called.

“I've learned so much from that. All I can do is mature and continue to grow from that. This is a step in a better direction for me. Accidents and stuff like that happen. But all you can do is move forward and walk around being the same person, try to be positive so that everybody can feel your love and your great energy.”

Jeremy Fowler (ESPN) On BJ Thompson:
“It was traumatizing [when the incident took place]. There were dozens of players in coaches in the special teams meeting went it all went down and they were definitely shook. But they’re feeling much better now. Thompson’s agent told me not only awake and alert, but he’s talking with the doctors and having conversations. He could be released from the hospital as early as Monday or Tuesday.”

Carson Wentz On Patrick Mahomes:
“Pat and I already have a great relationship that’ll keep growing, and we’ll keep finding ways that I can help. The dude has been playing at an extremely high level for a while, so I’ll try to find a way to help in whatever way I can, whether that’s off the field, on the field, or whatever.”
