To clean vomit from a carpet you will need a wet vac, some hydrogen peroxide and some biological washing powder - the peroxide will deal with the odour from the vomit and eliminate any smells.

This method will work to clean vomit from either a carpet or rug and should remove the sick stain and the odour too. If the are still smells of vomit you may need to repeat the process.

This method will work on pet vomit from both a dog or a cat, or on human vomit.
