Jumping straight back in with rust repairs to our 1983 MK1 Volkswagen Golf GTI Restoration project.
This car was and still is the ultimate Hatch!
Such a retro design, but it’s still stands out to this very day.
This particular VW Golf having not had any welding repairs in the past, was very original and a true survivor!

Thankfully nothing structural was needed, just a few minor repairs around the edges. In this episode we get stuck in with a good bit of welding and metal fab, replacing rusty panels and sectioning in repairs with new hand fabricated steel.
To show how much time and effort goes into this we’ve sped it up with some timelapse. Although we want to cover as much as possible, (as seen in the previous episodes) we really want to get the car onto the next stage, which will be the paint and body work.
