In August 2019, the CEOs of 181 of America’s most important companies signed a statement committing to lead their companies for the benefit of all stakeholders – customers, employees, suppliers, communities, and shareholders. Facilitated by the Business Roundtable, an association of the CEOs of companies with more than $9 trillion in revenue and more than 20 million employees, these CEOs endorse what many call “conscious capitalism.”

During this program, we discuss the impact of the Business Roundtable’s statement in the business world. Maria Ghazal, who led the committee that drafted the 2019 Statement of Purpose, helps us explore what motivated the Statement of Purpose and whether our most important corporations have converted this statement of principles into action.
