For years, Co-Founder Lin Wilensky, who was the caretaker for her brother Dave Jeffreys, worked to help Dave find stability and the chance to live his life in recovery. She was his caretaker and advocate, guiding him through the daily impacts of his paranoid schizophrenia.

Serious mental illness impacts over 14.2 million adults in the US every year.

It also affects the families, friends and caregivers of these men and women.

Caregivers of adults with mental or emotional health issues spend an average of 32 hours per week providing unpaid care (NAMI, 2020).

Their greatest concern is “Who will take care of my loved one after I die or can no longer care for them?”

Our permanent supportive housing provides these men and women with the solid foundation of a home they need to thrive. With ongoing case management by behavioral healthcare providers, they can live independently.

As Resident Seth says in the video, his Dave’s House home gives him a “community of friends, where I’m actually on my own.”

Your support helps us develop more permanent supportive housing for men and women with SMI, giving their families, friends and caregivers peace of mind that their loved ones have a stable home.
