I have wanted to arrange this theme for so long. As a child, I was a huge fan of Thomas the Tank Engine. I used to have "train conventions" with my dad every night where we'd line up all my Thomas the Tank Engine toys on the floor of my bedroom, and my dad would make up funny voices for each train and just talk about what happened that day! It's one of my fondest memories of childhood.

This theme was a big part of my childhood as well. I had a lot of Thomas episodes on VHS, and I don't think I knew how to fast-forward past the intro theme, so I definitely recall listening to this song many times as a kid! It's so cool to see music from my childhood being celebrated to this day. This tune is actually really really harmonically interesting - it's not quite as simple as you'd expect. There's a good amount of sudden modulations, which keep the song interesting and lend themselves very well to a jazz arrangement in my style!

I'm very fortunate to have access to a good alto saxophone now (thanks, Sab!), so you'll be seeing some alto parts on a few more videos of mine in the future. It was a lot of fun to arrange for the full AATTB saxophone section and experiment with different types of voicings!

(Also, if anyone noticed that I don't have a reed on in some of the shots in the video, I had to re-shoot some shots for this song in my apartment! Noise rules are strict, so I didn't put a reed on in an effort to keep it down. It's 100% my playing though!)
