In the remote village of Kanikwa, located in Uganda's Mukono district, the journey of motherhood begins far too early for many girls. Imagine being just 15 years old and already facing the immense responsibility of raising a child. Now, imagine that by the time you turn 20, you have multiple children, all while battling the challenges of growing up in one of the world's poorest countries.

At the Madaraja Foundation, we believe in a different future—one where teenage mothers are empowered, supported, and given the tools they need to thrive. Our CARE Groups Project is a bold step toward this vision. These peer-led groups, guided by trained facilitators and supported by Community Health Workers (CHWs), will serve as safe spaces where teenage mothers can come together to learn, share, and grow. Through these groups, they will receive targeted SRH education, psychosocial support, and economic empowerment.

Our pilot program will launch in rural Kanikwa, bringing together 20-30 teenage mothers who will meet regularly to discuss and learn about sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and economic opportunities. These gatherings will not only provide critical information but will also foster a sense of community and belonging, helping these young mothers to overcome the challenges they face and build a better future for themselves and their children.

But we can't do this alone. We need your support to make this vision a reality. By contributing to the CARE Groups Project, you are not just funding a program—you are investing in the future of Uganda's youth, ensuring that these young mothers have the chance to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Together, we can make a difference. Let's empower these young mothers to rewrite their stories, one CARE Group at a time.
