The history of natural conservation in Mexico began here, in the solitary former Convent of the Desierto de los Leones, embraced by hundreds of hectares of pine, oak and oyamel. This forest is the first national park in the country. We walked its paths to reach the highest point of the lungs of Mexico City, the hermitage of San Miguel, built at the beginning of the 17th century.

The forest is one of the last remnants of nature in the Valley of Mexico Basin, and it is precisely located within the great Mexico City.

The Desierto de los Leones is the opposite of a desert, they are leafy forests characteristic of the Transversal Volcanic Axis.
