Antique Rusted Hand Drill - Restoration - WorkshopDC

Hi guys! How are you doing?

In today video i show you how to restore a Antique Rusted hand drill.
Unfortunately i don't find any information about the brand of this Tool and how many years the Drill have.
So, to begin the restoration I disassembled the parts that were easier to get out, taking care not to break any parts.
I also used penetrating oil to make this step easier.
Some parts were stuck due to rust, so I put the part in a vinegar bath for 1 day, it worked perfectly.
With all the parts dismantled, I put only the iron pieces in the degreaser for 8 hours, all the dirt, grease and old paint melted with the action of the product.
After this step I dried all the parts with a thermal blower, as there was still rust on the parts, I put them back in the vinegar bath for another day.
I brushed all the parts with a wire brush after the vinegar bath.
Some parts I painted with primer 2 coats, gloss black 2 coats and red 2 coats.
For the chuck and the other iron parts, I removed some imperfections, sanded and polished them to make the pieces shine.
There were 2 pieces of iron destroyed by rust, so I made new ones on the lathe, with aluminum plate.
I also sanded and painted the wooden parts on the lathe.
There was a wooden cover that was missing, so I made an off-camera one.
With everything ready I was able to start assembling.
The Drill was perfect, I didn't replace the logo because I wanted to preserve the original one.
