I was told by a young angler that I met last year about this spot (Ian I believe was his name. So sorry I am terrible remembering names. I owe you a lure. Contact me and I'll get you any lure you want). So I put on hold another Mission Lake trip, to check this place out.

Though the forcast was great, and the sun was out, the valley weather had its way with me about an hour into my exploring this new slough. But if you can't do something in the rain in Oregon, it's not worth doing at all.

I really love this place with one exception, the launch area. And DO NOT get stuck in the rain and try to get out! Make sure it will be a dry day ALL day.

The catch I made was with the ZMan chatterbait again with the Zman Razor shad as a trailer (same set up I used in the Cascade Gateway video) It was a sluggish bite and the fish acted half asleep.

This catch I dedicated to my late Brother-in-law, James Douglas Martin. Unlike my cancer, his wasn't dormant and attacked fast and he left us two weeks after his diagnosis in March.

Now I need to take some IBprofen and rub sore muscles (and butt). Enjoy the video.
