Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the government’s change in stance on vapes is a “dog’s breakfast”.

The federal government is softening its new laws on the sale of vapes to gain the support of the Greens.

“This is a dog’s breakfast from the government,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia.

“They announced that they would be moving to a prescription model … and then three months later, they’re going to completely scrap the prescription model they’ve wasted so much time and effort in and replace it with something completely different.

“It’s a complete and utter mess.

“How can you change the law from one season to the next?

“In winter, you could be prosecuted for buying a vape without a prescription, and then in summer, there’ll be completely different rules.”
