This video explains how a German helmet and gas mask found in a farm in Digne, southern France, were researched. It was possible to determine, via the Bundesarchiv archives in Berlin that the gas mask had belonged to soldier Nicolaus Monzhausen, of Landesschützen-Bataillon 625. The helmet is unfortunately not named. The video explains the details of how the research was performed, and also details of how German troops often improvised camouflage netting, paint or wires on their helmets, as issue camouflage equipment was stil something novel at the time.
