Milk shakes are a fun, drinkable dessert. And you can be super creative with add-ins to personalize your shake. You can add malt powder for a malted milk shake. The basics are super simple – ice cream and milk. Whole milk is the best because it’s added fat brings creaminess to the shake, but you can use whatever you have. The base ice cream should be smooth, so you can add additional mix-ins at the very end. I tend to like my milk shakes on the thicker side, so you need a spoon to start with. If you like yours thinner, just add ¼ cup more milk.

Milk Shakes
Makes 1 shake
Chocolate
2 cups base ice cream – chocolate, vanilla, strawberry
2 Tbsp. milk, whole
¼ cup chocolate syrup

Strawberry
2 cups base ice cream – chocolate, vanilla, strawberry
2 Tbsp. milk, whole
8-10 strawberries

1. Let your ice cream soften at room temp for 5 minutes.
2. Place the ingredients in a blender and blend on low speed until smooth – about a minute.
3. Add in any flavor boosts or mix-ins – my general guide is ¼ cup of chips/nuts/chopped candy for two shakes

Flavor boost ideas:
• Add 3 Oreo cookies to vanilla (or chocolate) ice cream for a cookies & cream shake
• Add 2 tsp. of instant coffee to chocolate ice cream for a mocha shake
• Add 2 Tbsp. caramel sauce to vanilla ice cream to make a caramel shake
• Add 2 Tbsp. strawberry jam to amp up strawberry ice cream, then add in chocolate chips
