Critical minerals are a vital part of the contemporary U.S.-India relationship. The Indian government is implementing policies to enhance domestic production and processing of these minerals, aiming to bolster its position in global supply chains. As a strategic ally, India plays an important role in reducing the United States' dependence on China for essential critical minerals. Notably, India was the first developing nation to join the U.S. Department of State's Minerals Security Partnership, and the two governments have recently advanced discussions on formalizing bilateral minerals cooperation.

Please join the CSIS Critical Minerals Security Program for a conversation on U.S.-India cooperation for critical minerals security. Ambassador Geoffrey R. Pyatt, Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources, U.S. Department of State, will join Gracelin Baskaran, Director of the Critical Minerals Security Program, and Richard M. Rossow, Senior Adviser and Chair in U.S.-India Policy Studies at CSIS.

This event is made possible by general funding to CSIS and the CSIS Critical Minerals Security Program.
