What's the only thing better than going to the theatre to see a good movie? Going to see a good movie in a truly historic theatre that's over 100 years old and been rully restored to all of it's original spledor! Built in 1911 and located in the heart of downtown Morrilton, the historic Rialto Theatre stands proudly today as one of the cultural centers of Conway County and it's known and loved throughout all of Central Arkansas. Officially known these days as The Rialto Community Arts Center, the theatre is the home of a fully equipped and functioning broadway-style theatre facility and it now proudly houses music concerts, plays, art exhibits, numerous special events...and yes - movies. As a matter of fact, the famed Rialto Theatre will be hosting movies throughout the summer of 2015 in it's muchly anticipated First Friday Night Flicks program. The first of these First Friday Night Flicks events - which is the subject of this video - was held in May and featured the theatrically acclaimed classic "Steel Magnolias.' The evening was a tremendous success and it was greatly enjoyed by all who came out for it, too On Friday night June the 5th the Rialto will show "Father of the Bride," on Friday night July the 3rd it will show "Apollo 13," and on Friday night August the 7th the film will be Disney/Pixar's childrens classic "Up." Entrance to each show is free, though strictly voluntary donations will be accepted for a different area school each evening.

So if you love movies and if the thought of getting to sit down and enjoy one in the same historically restored theater that has been providing the residents of Central Arkansas with delightful shows and memorable evenings for over a hundred years appeals to you, then you definitely don't want to miss out on any of this summers films at The Rialto. After all, when was the last time that you got to sit down to watch a movie in a theater with the knowledge that movie goers have been enjoying films there for over a century? And will the Rialto Community Arts Center continue to host it's First Friday Night Flicks program in coming years? This Is Arkansas certainly hopes so because the grand old historic Rialto Theatre is one of our most favorite places throughout the entire Natural State to sit down, eat some popcorn, and watch a movie.
