I caught wind of this hidden gem from a dude on the chairlift at Kicking Horse last season. When most people think of skiing in Alberta your mind instantly wanders to Lake Louise & Sunshine Village. He was right.. Castle Mountain Resort is absolutely unbelievable! It is loaded with steep fall line terrain that could keep the biggest chargers ski & snowboard cravings satiated. The glades off of the North side and Huckleberry ridge are world class and the skiing is great from top to bottom. The tides were low when I visited mid-February but it didn’t stop me from having an amazing time. The strong winds loaded up the chutes and glades and I was getting face shots with only 1cm of fresh snow. I just missed the massive end of February storm at Castle and I’ve heard they’ve got the deepest base in Alberta right now! Don’t sleep on Castle Mountain Resort if you’re close by, it is the perfect addition to your powder highway itinerary.
