Freida Pinto became an international film star after she garnered attention for her debut role in the critically and commercially acclaimed film Slumdog Millionaire. She was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture" for her role at the 2009 BAFTA Awards and the movie went on to win 8 Academy Awards including "Best Motion Picture." She has also starred in other films including Miral, Rise of The Planet of the Apes, and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger.

In 2013, Ms. Pinto participated in the film Girl Rising and went on to become a Girl Rising Global Ambassador and producer for the Girl Rising India film. She is also an ambassador for Plan International.
