OK. This was a pretty entertaining flick with a decent adult / child message about Family built in.

The family thing didn't quite cut it.. coz that's not really what Batman is about.. But I guess only a lego movie can warp Batman to such an extent and still make it acceptable. One thought that ran through my mind while watching it was that this movie really captured the essence of adults playing with Lego as well. If we oldies had these toys in our hands, we'd also want to go "WHEEEEE!!!!" with it and play-shoot everything and create an exciting and fast paced imaginary action world, but we'd have the maturity to understand that life has a deeper meaning than just clashing little building blocks together to gain joy from their destruction and construction.

What did I like about it? Makes fun of itself. Watching it was as good as playing with the toys (I actually do want the toys now though). Voice acting was pretty good. Dealt directly with the love hate relationship between The Joker and Batman. Great CGI showing off cool lego sets. Really cool stuff. I want.

What I didn't like? I lost the plotline a bit when joker and batman kept going back and forth to the Phantom Zone thing and then suddenly there's all these every other franchise mixed up with Batman... Sauron plays a key role in it as The Eye... Voldemort was kinda useless... The Velociraptor didn't make much sense also... and what's with the head joining thing at the end that everyone must pull together to keep Gotham ... intact. That was just weird. So kids, go stand on your brother's head and grab your friends across the street. No. That part of the plot didn't make sense.

Overall, good fun. Good message. Works for a wide audience. Great for a few good laughs. Explore a wider gamut of Batman's emotions and personal issues that isn't explored in other Batman lore. Makes fun of itself... and yes... It's a Lego movie. From their games to their movies, they've always been really high on the entertainment value. Not sure if you NEED to watch it in a cinema, but the music was worth the cinema experience for me.
