These courses may be Gone, but John didn't want them to be Forgotten. As a tribute, he has recreated these courses for our enjoyment.
This playlist is a collection of those courses and as I have tried to find out what I could about these courses and add it to the description of each, it has been an interesting journey.
I hope you too, can play a round in honor of those that have reached the ultimate Tee-Time.

Rest In Peace
Dollar Golf Club 1890 - 2019
by John Brooks

COURSE NOTES
Dollar Golf Club closed as an 18-hole Course in 2019, but has since re-opened as a 9-hole Course.
Set in the Ochil Hills of Clackmannanshire, Scotland, and originally designed by Ben Sayers, it is short and has no bunkers, but don't be deceived. Apart from big elevation changes, it has switchback greens with big slopes, sloping fairways with hanging lies, crossovers, half shots and blind shots. Whilst a really low score is possible (the Course Record is 67), some holes can make fools out of good players.

The original 18-hole Dollar Golf Course was designed by Ben Sayers.

He felt there were enough natural hazards and so did not construct any bunkers.

In 1906 the Ladies Golf Club and the Gents Club came together on Dollar Bank, part of Harviestoun Estate, as Dollar Golf Club, and were there until 2019, when, due to falling membership, the Club closed.

Over the years the Club hosted many Opens and people from around the world enjoyed playing here. Famous golfers who have played the course included Maud Titterton, the British Ladies Champion of 1908. In 1910 a match took place between four Ryder Cup players, Herd, Ray, Ball & Duncan, who were said to have relished the challenges of Dollar.

In July 2020 Dollar Golf Course was established and has retained nine holes which are open to a new generation of golfers.

Harviestoun Estate and a small group of local volunteers continue to run the Dollar Golf Course, and with the support of local players and visitors we hope to continue the long history of golf in Dollar.
