Cooks in less than 30 minutes. Pesang Bangus or Milk Fish in Ginger Stew is a simple yet light-tasting and healthy Filipino fish soup recipe. The fish is simmered in ginger, mixed with cabbage, bok choy (or pechay), potato, and other vegetables.
(Note that aside from Bangus, other fishes like Tilapia, Lapulapu, or Maya-Maya may be used.)
INGREDIENTS
1.5 kgs. milkfish / bangus
8 cloves garlic / bawang
2 large onion / sibuyas
5 medium tomatoes / kamatis
3 large potatoes / patatas
1 medium luya / ginger
½ kg. bok choy
1 large radish / labanos
1 medium cabbage / repolyo
3 pcs. Chili green pepper / siling haba
Rice flour / glutinous rice
150 grams Tomato paste (optional)
2 pcs. Fish bouillon cubes
3 tsp. ground pepper
2 tsp. peppercorn
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. fish sauce/patis
