This is a Rethinking God with Tacos episode that originally aired on GAN.
This is the third of four conversations with Mathew Hester, focused on his book, The Rorsach God, and Jason's book, Leaving and Finding Jesus.
In this conversation, Jason and Matthew Hester discuss the themes of the good God who lays His life down vs the god who craves violence and sacrifice. They start by talking about the importance of challenging these themes in order to reclaim the character and nature of God as Jesus revealed.
They then focus on the story of Adam and Eve and how it relates to the themes of violence and sacrifice. They also discuss the story of Abraham and Isaac and how it reveals God as a giver, not a taker. Throughout the conversation, they emphasize the need to understand God's goodness and to have a Christocentric hermeneutic when interpreting scripture.
