In just 76 hours, US Marines take one of the most vital islands of the Pacific campaign in this vintage World War II United News footage. Later on in the video, FDR meets with Churchill first in Cairo, Egypt, and then again in Teheran, Iran, this time with Stalin.

In part 1, the invasion fleet moves toward Tarawa. Marines land and fight after a naval bombardment. It shows the effect of the attack on Japanese emplacements. In part 2, President Roosevelt meets with Churchill and Chiang Kai-shek in Cairo, and with Churchill and Joseph Stalin at Teheran. It shows Madame Chiang and Sara Churchill.
