This is a song with literally nine lives! Originally recorded and included on Bob Seger's 1978 opus 'Stranger In Town', 'Old Time Rock & Roll' was released as a single the following year; gifting Bob with a minor hit in both America and Canada. The use of the song so memorably in the Tom Cruise breakthrough movie 'Risky Business' breathed new life into the track and here in Australia it re-entered the chart in 1984; peaking at #53; spending 4 months ambling around the Top 100. Weirdly it was re--released in 1987 and was a much bigger success then, going all the way to #3!

Bob Seger for me is a quintessential American rocker. Straddling various genres of contemporary and classic forms of music, his recordings filled the airwaves for decades; with his biggest hits in the 1970's and 80's. Perhaps his music can best be classified as the title of this song. 'Old Time Rock & Roll'. :)
