The Northern Cape province has less than half of the traffic officers it needs to keep the roads safe and deliver proper services. Between 2010 and 2018, around 205 traffic officers were stationed around the province. The shortage of officers has also impacted Learner and Driving Licence appointments, with learners having to wait for more than three months to secure a booking.
