It's Saturday afternoon. You've just seen a place you really like. It looks pretty popular. There's another couple just like you who look like they want it too and you don’t want to miss out.

The agent might tell you that the best way to make sure you get the house is to make an offer and sign a contract there and then. ""It's OK, because if you change your mind, or the building inspection is bad, you can pull out of the deal - but the vendor is locked in and can't sell to anybody else"".

They might be technically right, but SHOULD you sign?
The first big problem is that you’re making a really quick decision under pressure and you haven’t had time to properly work out the right price to pay.
You haven't had a chance to research the market and you're likely to be heavily guided by the agent instead. And remember that she works for the owner, NOT YOU!

We know there can be a lot of pressure on buyers, especially if prices are rising. But it’s important that you be prepared so you don’t make rushed decisions that you might regret.
