Madana Mohana Murari is considered the mantra of love, composed of sacred sounds that evoke the loving symphony of the universe within our hearts. It is chanted to attract true love, friendship, good and true relationships, whether affective or family, and self-love.

Besides being a way to honor and connect with the sacred relationship between Krishna and Sri Radha, his divine consort; it also evokes the energy of divine love and spiritual union as it refers to love for all Creation, Universal love!

The mantra "Madana Mohana Murari" originates from the tradition of Hinduism. With its more "literal" and poetic meaning, each word of this mantra has a specific meaning:

"Madana" refers to Kamadeva, the Hindu god of love and desire. He is considered the catalyst of love and passion, and the Hindu equivalent of the Greek god Eros or the Roman Cupid.
"Mohana" means "enchanter" or "one who attracts". It refers to the ability to charm and captivate.
"Murari" is an epithet of the god Krishna, who is considered one of the avatars (incarnations) of Vishnu.

This mantra is also recited to seek Krishna's blessing, invoke his divine love, and experience connection with the divine aspect of love and passion.

This is a poetic and free interpretation of the mantra "Madana Mohana Murari". Although not a literal translation, it captures the essence of the mantra by highlighting Krishna's divine seduction and surrender of the heart to divine love.

The first part of the translation highlights that Krishna is more seductive than cupid (Madana) and that He has the power to steal someone's heart. This is a reference to the irresistible nature of Krishna's divine love.

The second part, "Chant the name of God", suggests an invocation to chant the name of God (or the mantra "Madana Mohana Murari" itself) as a way to connect with the divine and experience the presence of Krishna. The word “Haribol”, at the end of this mantra, is the performance of unconditional love in our lives. For, Murari also means "one who kills or subdues the demon Mura" and is used to emphasize the connection with Krishna, as the reference to Mura in the mantra highlights Krishna's victory over the demon, symbolizing the manifestation of divine power. It is a way of emphasizing Krishna's strength and protective role against negative and disturbing forces in the world.


* An interesting curiosity is that this mantra was the subject of two soap operas in Brazil "Estrela Guia" from 2001 (Tema de Úrsula) and "Pedra sobre Pedra" from 1992.
