Ken worked for Kai-Fu Lee at Cosmo Software at Silicon Graphics as a contract IT guy. Basically, they paid Ken $35/hour to burn a clean install of Microsoft Windows Workstation with the latest patches with the latest web browsers and the latest version of their 3D VRML browser plug-in to people's workstations and laptops all day like a robot.

They gave Ken the title System Administrator. Ken was clueless and openly mentally ill. Kind of like a Mascot. They trained him and got him up to speed. The English-speaking Russian IT guys held Ken's hand and let him know that no questions were off limits.

It was the coolest place Ken has ever worked. Super laid back. Very fun. They were all a bunch of aliens and witches. They gave Ken his own office with his own SGI name tag. They were secular humanists. They were liberal libertarians. There were no authorities.

Ken had a lot of direct experience with telepathy-based mind control stealth nonlethal weapons at Cosmo Software. That's where they first told Ken that he was a Droid. Time-traveling alien worms who use humans as hosts were talking to Ken telepathically through people in their voices without them moving their lips. They were hitting Ken with directed kinetic force fields and gravity waves. They literally pushed him around towards people and away from people.
