Wood plugs colonized with mycelium (plug spawn) have a ton of uses for outdoor mushroom cultivation with a wide variety of species. They are typically pretty expensive from spawn supply companies, but it's easy and far less expensive to make your own. With this easy single step jar method, you can make 1,000 colonized plugs with a single $15 liquid culture syringe, no flowhood required. This opens the door for you to experiment with a wide variety of species and strains that are readily available as LC, but not commonly available as spawn.
