This is a knot a recently learned about and I think it has great applications for both dress shoes (for which it was originally intended) and for my hiking and hunting boots. It's called the Berluti knot.

From the Berluti company: "The quintessence of sophistication. It was designer Olga Berluti who introduced the knot in the 1970s. The family heiress took inspiration from another heir, a royal one, a faithful client of the Maison. The Duke of Windsor was famous for his escapades, elegance and for having popularised the renowned Windsor knot for ties. To tie his shoes, his grandmother, Alexandra of Denmark, taught him a double-loop knot that prevented his shoelaces from coming untied during military parades and official ceremonies."

Maybe that sounds too fancy to apply to hiking and hunting boots but you're wrong! The knot lays flat if tied properly. It's a double knot that does not easily come loose on it's own. Most importantly, it's secure on all day hikes but it still pulls apart easily.

Give it a try and let me know what you think. Are there other knots that work well for you? Let me know in the comment section.
