Psychiatrist and mental health journalist Daniel J. Carlat discusses the current state of the field of psychiatry and his book, "Unhinged: The Trouble with Psychiatry—A Doctor's Revelations About a Profession in Crisis." Presented by Harvard Book Store. Carlat argues that psychiatrists have settled for treating symptoms rather than causes, and are over-prescribing medication when therapeutic counseling would be more appropriate.
