LI News Tonight covers WLIR-FM going off the air, December 18, 1987. This was one of America's first "alternative" radio stations, and was the New York home for many New Wave artists, such as U2, Depeche Mode, Elvis Costello, Squeeze and others.
DJ's on this clip include Larry the Duck (now on Sirius' "First Wave"), Donna Donna (now on WBAB FM), Andy Geller (now the voice of ABC TV) and Bob Marrone.
God, I miss good radio!
