This is my first video about this project. I wanted a radio controlled mower to handle some of the more difficult to get to areas of my yard. It needs to be able to handle hills as well as get under things. I also wanted it to be totally powered by the Ryobi 40v batteries I already had. Other people have built excellent remote mowers and there are some commercially available ones. However, most of these are gas powered, which I didn't want. Also, most use 12v SLA batteries for the drive system, which mean you have to plug the machine in to charge it unless the gas motor has an alternator to recharge the batteries. I wanted all the batteries the same and all removable with no gas involved and the lowest maintenance possible. I tried several things before ending up with this design. Along with some updates to how the motors are mounted and how the batteries fit, it will also get blade motors and wiring added, a box to contain the RC equipment, and a security camera for first person view. These will be shown in future videos as the project progresses.
