Ingredients
Dry Fish of ur choice - 300 gm here I used mackerel *(Ayala)
Grated coconut – 5TBSP
Chilli powder-1tbsp
Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Shallots -10
Curry leaves -2 strings
Ginger -small piece
Raw mango -1 or according to the sourness
Kudampuli -opt
Salt- most of the time no need to add
Coconut oil-3tbsp
Raw plantain -1/2 of one (opt)
Green chilli-1 or 2
Water-3-4cup
Method
First step is to soak the dry fish in water for 30 mins and then wash it.keep aside. Take a claypot or a non stick deep bottomed pan. Before turning on the heat add chilly powder , ¼ tsp turmeric, curry leaves, green chilly, finely chopped shallots, crushed ginger, 1 small piece of kudum puli(if you are adding green mango pieces, check the sourness then add the kudumpuli accordingly), raw banana pieces, coconut oil , 3 cups of water and finally add the dry fish.cook well for 10-15 mins. Now you can add the raw mango.
Take 5 tbsp of grated coconut and grind it with water.keep it aside.
Once the fish is cooked well add the grated coconut. Now stir the vessel as it is.check the salt and spices. Adjust the sour according to your preference.
Now for seasoning. Take a saucepan add coconut oil .heat it on low flame. Add shallots .allow it to become golden. Add some curry leaves. Don’t burn it. Then add it to the fish curry. Close it for 5 mins.
