Had to snip out the videos because YouTube flagged them for copyright, sorry. NEW VIEWS was the nightly half hour or new and debut videos when WVEU Ch 69 had, briefly, a 24 hr music video format. This was the debut night of Twisted Sister's seminal "We're Not Gonna Take It." The Video Music Channel was an independent cable music service from approx 1982 to 1984, and over the air via WVEU 1984-1985. I was Production Manager and Senior Editor. At the time, MTV had not entered the Atlanta market. The VMC was beloved locally as it was Atlanta's only source for music videos, amassing a library of over 4000 clips and a full staff of VJs and program producers. Multiple mega-selling artists visited the studios, and other interviews and concerts aired from various venues.... although now only a few tapes of these interviews survive. Many VMC video tapes had to be recorded over for reuse because the cost of broadcast tape was so high. Search VMC Atlanta to see more clips from this historic and cool enterprise. I built the show open using a 45 by Colourbox on 4AD, I forget the song. That's employee Lynn Duran (we called her Lynn Duran Duran) carrying in the newly arrived 1" video masters to play on the air.
