Some nice bass and a good mix bag of fish from down the parade in this vid!
with 6 species caught including the target!
We set up preparing for the long haul on this session, it began with nice weather but had heavy rain forecast from 12am - 3am and they were not wrong.
Fishing started slow with only a couple of dogfish turning up before dark,
but it wasn't too long before I hooked into the first bass using a whole squid in close the shore 2ld 8oz nice result!
the scratching rigs did there job for the next few hours finding dogfish, whiting, pouting, dab and conger eel!
I swiftly dehooked all small whiting and pouting and got them in a bucket of sea water to be used as live bait. Not even one week before I hooked into the biggest bass of my life live baiting right here on this spot and lost it due to using and old rig! "Never again" so I was keen to re-enact this fight!
and low and behold after a few hours of sheltering in the tent from the rain I check the bass rod and its kicking off! After a short fight I have a decent bass landed my eyes tell me 4ld which while its not as big as whatever I hooked into the other night did wonders to dull the pain of loosing that one!
at 3lb 14oz my guess wasn't bad, with both me and my mate sorted for dinner with a fresh bass each, I gave it few more casts but the bites went slack in the morning light.
So I called it a day, a successful one at that!
