Response from M1 Machining:
I am following up because we have not heard back from you, and we don't want you to feel like we are ignoring the issue.  We absolutely would like to resolve this concern, and make sure you are happy with your lower receiver.  We have seen a video on YouTube highlighting this concern, and we want to do what is right for our customer.  On this particular issue it is a tough one because it can't be tested on every piece before we ship it out.  In the interest of integrity and to provide some background on your concern, we have had two independent issues with the placement of the safety hole.  The first issue we ran into was posted on CalGuns in 2014 that the YouTube video describes.  That was actually several problems that included the placement of the safety detent hole.  The cause of those issues could be broken down to moving the machines to a new facility and poor fixturing that wasn't holding the part as consistently as it should.  We did address those issues, and we took care of the all the customers who responded to our post.   We offered a variety of options to our customers to see what suited them best.  Some folks didn't want to mill out another lower, and they chose to be refunded $30 dropping the overall price to the same as a blemished unit (To our understanding there weren't any issues that would cause functionality concerns only cosmetic, which classified as a blemished unit.  Hindsight being 20/20 we should have offered more, but that was the rationale at the time).  Others didn't mind taking on another project and wanted a replacement lower.  Our goal was to provide a solution that everyone could walk away content.  The second issue in regards to the positioning of the same hole was due to a chipped spot drill.  That particular tool only gets used for that spot due to the need of a longer neck and a thin radius.  Without the spot drill making contact with the lower, the drill for the safety detent hole was walking causing a wide variety of placements in that detent hole.  It took us a while to catch it because after hearing from customers and seeing pictures there was not consistency in the problem.  Sometimes it was off to the right and other times it was off to the left and when we tested it based on the feedback, we happened to get one that didn't walk at all, out of pure dumb luck.  From there we assumed the error was on the consumer, with varying skill sets for machining, seeming to be the best explanation.  Obviously, we were incorrect in this conclusion and found out over the next couple weeks.  This could have been the issue you would be running into based on timeframe.  I assure you, as we addressed all these issues we maintained the integrity of the blue print specs and did not take short cuts as the YouTube video eludes to.  I bring this information to you not as an excuse or cop out, but rather to show we are human and mistakes can happen.  What is most important to us is, learning from those mistakes and putting safeguards in place to prevent them from happening again.  When the inevitable mistake does happen, we stand behind our brand and take care of our customers, so everyone has a positive experience with our company.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this issue has brought you, and we want to make it right.  I hope you were not offended at the question I had asked in the previous email, but with publicized post of replacing lowers for free, M1 Machining needs to be cautious that people aren't taking advantage.  It is always the few that ruin it for the many, and unfortunately, we have run into those issues.  We would like to send you a replacement lower receiver in an effort to save face.  The address we have on file is 24220 Maranatha way.  If this is no longer correct, please let me know, so we can ensure your part gets to you.  We hope that we might still be able to change your mind about M1 Machining, and maybe we can have the opportunity to earn your business in the future.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we are continuously trying to improve ourselves and our business.
