This song has been rendered by Smt. Geetha Madhavan and Srividya of Rajamathangi Music School, Adyar - Chennai.

This ragam is a Janya ragam of Dheera Shankarabharanam ( S R2 G2 D2 N2). The speciality of this ragam is that it does not have 2 primary swarams that is Madhyamam (Ma) and Panchamam (Pa). The other uniqueness of this ragam is that while singing this song, the upper and lower lips never meet. The ragam name is thereby derived from this specialty (Nir=without, and Oshta= lips).

This was taught to our guru by Sri Dr. S Ramanathan and we would like to dedicate this song to the great musician on the occasion of Vijayadasami.
